The KGALAGADI Transfrontier Park
"When I arrived I thought what the hell am I doing here. When I left I was crying"
- Andrea Ferrari
For the serious photographer or nature enthusiast, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is arguably the best wildlife sanctuary in South Africa to visit. Under-marketed, this destination still enjoys a relatively small percentage of international photographers and tourists, with the result that the internet is not yet flooded with obvious images.
This region with its semi-arid climate, red sand dunes and dry river beds lies within the Kalahari biome. The landscapes and the huge diversity of wildlife is absolutely addictive. It is home to a large variety of predators like leopard, cheetah and the majestic black-maned Kalahari lion, with a stunning variety of dry region bird life which include raptors of almost all description.
Other predators regularly encountered are Spotted Hyena, Brown Hyena, Black backed Jackal, the rare Cape Fox, African Wild Cat, Caracal, Bat-eared Fox and more.
If you like predators, this place is for you!
